Bandhani बांधणी Tie-Dye

बांधणी

Bandhani is a tie-dye technique widely practiced in western India. The ancient art of Bandhani is one of the oldest known methods of tie-dyeing & is a highly complex & skilled process.

The technique involves making many intricate bindings on the fabric then soaking it in dye to create beautifully dyed fabric with elaborate shapes and designs. After it is soaked in dye, the fabric is left alone for three to four hours as the colors soak into the desired areas, allowing the fabric beneath the bindings to remain undyed. The Bandhani techniques have been passed on from generation to generation as a form of art in India.
